Cheeze

Cheeze is a self portrait project that explores the superficial.

To create this work, the subject was adorned with industrially produced foodstuffs typically used to decorate food. The materiality of this jewelry is revealed as it melts on the skin and is eaten by the subject (used herein: frosting & Cheeze-Whiz). By literally transforming “food” into adornment, the series has as a goal to reveal the superficial “non-food” nature of industrially produced edibles. The temporality of the foodstuffs further reinforces the fleeting nature of fashion and beauty.
