What if car seats were made of bubble wrap?
A team-building workshop designed around the theme of play with global car design company Faurecia.
Faurecia is one of the world’s leading providers of engineering solutions and automobile components, specializing in seating, vehicle interiors (cockpit, door and acoustic package), front ends and exhaust systems. With 60,000 employees at 190 manufacturing sites and 28 R&D centers in 28 countries, their expertise ranges far and wide. To further strengthen innovation and internal communication, 30 company leaders gathered for three intense days at the Vitra Design Museum’s Boisbuchet site to participate in a hands-on workshop that would build ties across countries and sectors.
Given that most of Faurecia’s work is centered around car interiors and the relationship of materials to the driver, the workshop focused on using fashion to explore new and innovative ways of material interaction with the body. A sense of play was infused by limiting the teams to using rudimentary materials such as tape, scissors, staples, and bubble wrap. Through a series of exercises, the teams addressed ergonomics, mobility, beauty and their relationship to the core values of the Faurecia brand.
We also laughed, cried, poked fun and even did that pop-the-bubble-wrap-’til-you-annoy-your-neighbor-so-much-they-hit-you-with-a-spoon-thing.
The culmination of the workshop was a final fashion show that presented the work of each team, showcasing the innovative designs and celebrating the teamwork that had evolved over the week.
